Fact 7: The Art of Displaying Information by 2 Different Methods

When there is the author has a point to make, there are many ways of displaying the argument and list the facts. Two popular ways that often viewers encounter are video and an essay. Bones is one easy topic for an example. The author could have an educative video raising awareness of bone structure and health. The author could also write an informative essay displaying all the data necessary for the readers to learn about bones. Both are very effective in sharing information. However, writing an essay seems to be more effective for education and researches.

Typewriter
The article is very effective at displaying important data. Its clarity in organizing data in different paragraphs helps readers to quickly eliminate the need for searching data. The author wrote, "The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview of bone biology that will help the reader to understand: why humans have bones; how bones work; how bones change during life; what keeps bones healthy;
what causes bone disease, including the most common form, osteoporosis; the future of bone biology and what it means for preventing and treating bone disease" (US National Library of Medicine, The Basics of Bone Health and Disease). The essay has clear sections to display different data at different locations. This very helpful for researchers and person who is looking for specific data. Therefore, this method is a good way to display the author's message and specific points.

Video
Nevertheless, using video as a means to display a message is almost as good as writing the essay. It displays information faster than the essay but lacks in-depth. In Bone Remodeling and Modeling by Amgen, they displayed their important data such as the process of modeling and remodeling in bone structures. It summed the essay's data in less than five minutes of the video. The target audience for this video is people who are not doing researches but to make a visual image to clarify the lesson after reading the essay. The video did not display any text or caption. This is not a good source for doing research but to quickly spread the message with visual images.
